Change-order checklist (Lathcheck prototype, English only for now)
An informational checklist for one change order or extra-work order on a California home improvement contract. It looks for the items Bus. & Prof. Code §7159 lists for change orders: written and signed by the parties before the work starts, the scope, the amount added or subtracted, the effect on the progress payments and completion date, and the subcontractor disclaimer when subcontractors are used. Each item links the statute. Background: extra work and change orders explained.
Not legal advice. This checklist looks for specific wording and numbers. It does not review the change order as a whole, cannot see when anything was signed or when work started, and can miss problems or show items that do not apply. "Found" only means matching wording was seen; it is not an approval of the change order. Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by the Contractors State License Board or any government agency. For advice about your contract, consult a licensed California attorney.
Stays in your browser. The change order is read and checked only on this device. This page makes no network requests and has no analytics or tracking; its security policy blocks outgoing connections. PDF text is extracted locally with a bundled copy of pdf.js.
